The worst, besides principal and interest, is the HOA fees that almost all homes built since the late 1980's require. HOA dues are not tax-deductible and they never go down - only up. Then you get so many corrupt HOA's that fine you for anything they can conjure up. Affordable homes need to be built without HOA's. I understand the benefits, but it's not worth the cost and oppression.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11719208.post-7509986879484050932009-07-17T11:35:25.383-07:002009-07-17T11:35:25.383-07:00What the bottom half of the population really need...What the bottom half of the population really needs are smaller, more affordable homes to be build. Zoning regulations in many areas prohibit this. Home building and home purchases would take off if smaller homes were allowed to be built. (European homes are half the size of US homes.) Secondary suppliers of home furnishings would benefit also.

Its a shame the bottom half is essentially becoming the unhomed of the land because of over reliance on the property tax by many localities.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11719208.post-36833120140800318502009-07-17T11:04:35.263-07:002009-07-17T11:04:35.263-07:00Starts are down 46% yoy, and the blip is largely a...Starts are down 46% yoy, and the blip is largely attributed to California's 10,000 new home incentive...

I would call that "dragging along a bottom", maybe, if I was feeling optimistic.

Personally, I wouldn't say that's improving, unless you mean that we can start to work off some of that overhang in inventory and that's improving.Chuck Ponzihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02563190232678709911noreply@blogger.com
