The good thing is there are alternatives to this "Empire".

ChuckChuck Ponzihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02563190232678709911noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11719208.post-63555247242374004052009-01-20T14:10:00.000-08:002009-01-20T14:10:00.000-08:00Welcome to the "Error of Change".Welcome to the "Error of Change".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11719208.post-19604235442210329792009-01-20T14:07:00.000-08:002009-01-20T14:07:00.000-08:00• Get recovery package passed and implemented• Imp...• Get recovery package passed and implemented
• Implement foreclosure prevention program
• Improve bank bailout efforts
• Turn in a budget request
• Decide automakers' fate
• Meet with world leaders to rethink regulation

How many of these action items are within the purview of the Constitution? In fact, the sky high hopes of millions of people regarding the Obama administration are a bit frightening to me. I don't foresee him being able to effectively combat this economic crisis, especially with people like Geithner in positions of power.

What happens when reality sets in after all this fanfare? I'd be much happier to see tempered optimism from the public, not a messiah complex. I'm afraid the pendulum will swing too far the other way when their hopes are dashed.

I've long watched public opinion in post Soviet Russia with interest and the last thing I want to see is a repeat of their wildly swinging public opinion on our soil. In a short time, Russians went from thinking that America, the West, and capitalism are the coolest things ever to idealizing Stalin and even Hitler, along with endless debates of whether Putin is too weak (but rarely whether he's too strong). Scary stuff.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11719208.post-27255868796775150982009-01-20T10:35:00.000-08:002009-01-20T10:35:00.000-08:00looks like the stock market is already being very ...looks like the stock market is already being very pragmaticAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
