Five or 10 percent decrease makes headlines because rents (median) almost never go down, but as a renter, they're still high.<br /><br />The 15-unit building I live in has been experiencing more and longer vacancies, but the landlord doesn't get it. Instead of lowering the rents on the vacant apts, they raise everyone else's rents to make up for their shortfall as the vacancies stretch on.
