If you ever get a very mild version of the flu, similar to the one I seem to have contracted, and you just want to kill a few hours not knowing (or caring) whether you fall off into a blissful nap when you close your eyes for a few moments, be sure to use your Tivo to check out the PBS documentary Judgment Day - Intelligent Design on Trial.
If you do drift off, be sure to come back and watch it with your eyes open - like just about every other documentary produced by NOVA and FRONTLINE for PBS, it is excellent and highly recommended.
It will be available for viewing online tomorrow.
It's funny to think that I grew up not far from Dover, Pa and attended Lehigh University for a few semesters (home of the defense's expert witness) before moving to California - I guess when you're a kid you don't pay too much attention to this sort of thing.

I spent a couple of years surveying this issue during a personal "fatih crisis". It opened my mind to the awareness that not only our religious beliefs but also our political beliefs ought to be open for serious scrutiny and it's how I eventually abandoned party politics.
I don't know what I believe about god anymore, but I do know that where most people stand on design in the universe is primarily a function of assumptions and has nothing to do with science, all endless rationalizations aside. No one knows what really happened and whether god had anything to do with it.
I saw that the other night. Very well done. It says more about American culture than most people would like to admit.
The NewsVisual story on the class-action lawsuit against Sunrise Senior Living http://www.newsvisual.com/newsvisual/2007/11/senior-executiv.html shows some interesting connections to the Bush Administration.
