Rep. Peter DeFazio, my new hero

Thursday, October 02, 2008

Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Oregon) introduced a "No Bailouts Bill" the other day, a bill that probably won't get too much attention prior to tomorrow's big vote on ... the bailout. Here he is from earlier today with a few unkind words for Hank Paulson.

Since everyone is concerned about the "little people", just add to the bailout bill-

"Sec. Next- No payee may receive, and no treasury employee may provide, any aggregate sum in excess of $250,000 under this bill to any single person, corporation,, business entity, single social security number, or single EIN.
"Receive" and "provide" includes payments denominated in any manner, whether loans, purchases of equity or assets, or any other name. "

DeFazio tells too much truth!

All week end I did my own little focus grouping. the ONLY PEOPLE I found who wanted the bailout were the telephone number rich who would personally benefit- the bail out ees.

Oregon wasn't one of the bubble states.

I'm a conservative, I was watching liberals such as Kaptur and Sherman last night and didn't hear anything I disagree with. They ought to get together with Pence and Bachman and write a good bipartisan bill. This isn't a partisan issue, it's between Main St and Wall St. The party fringes are with the people, while the moderates are siding with the powerful.

I have read that when two big companies or groups of companies are competing, a bill can go either way: it is never sure just who will win. However, when the choice is between big business and the little guy, the side favoring big business will be the one that ends up as law.

Now we get to see just how true that is.

This government is a joke. I heard they might do a bank freeze now. That would just add to the problem. Here is where i read it. http://www.gotoguy.com/?p=367
