Americans have been too busy or too afraid to protest in the past. Maybe now that they don't have anything too lose we will see some action, not just the stupid "tea parties" that fox news promotes.
I don't agree with you. I, and a lot of people I know have protested plenty times. I know someone who got trampled by a police horse at a protest. I think we protest far more harder than you Europeans. If things get real outta hand we don't only protest, we riot.
The only protests I remember were against the Iraq war, all 1% of america, safely in the designated protest zones. The last riot was over Rodney King, where poor people burned down their own stores. But the summer is a coming, and lets hope it's not a hot one, because if your right americans will be burning down the suburbs this time.
Let's hope it isn't the suburbs...but instead directed at the people who caused this mess.
Protests - fine. But against what I ask? Yesterday I heard on the radio that in London there are protests against "the crisis". Against the crisis?!
How can anyone possibly protest against that? I understand protesting against a certain policy or support a certain initiative. But how to protest against a crisis is too much for my old head.
Take care,
Jay
I recently came across your blog and have been see the post. I thought I would leave my first comment. I still don’t totally understand what these people are protesting? If capitalism is there enemy then do they have an alternative system we should use?
