Updated official gold holdings
Monday, June 22, 2009
The World Gold Council released updated statistics for its official world gold holdings showing a huge increase for China, a small increase for Russia, and France as the biggest seller.
As was discussed at length over the last month, China added some 454 tonnes to their reserves, vaulting them into sixth place, and Russia added 12 tonnes. France sold 39 tonnes, dropping them from 4th to 5th place, and Sweden, the BIS, and Slovakia all made smaller sales.
