This news item appeared in the local weekly paper a short time ago and is just too funny not to share - it really is much, much better without any pictures.
The image of sparks flying up off of the road surface as the thief makes his get-away is just priceless - almost as priceless as the idea of copper plumbing being stripped out of about-to-be-foreclosed homes in the Midwest just before the owner mails the keys back to the bank.

He should have gotten a bigger truck.
Last year a copper thief broke into a commercial employee restroom in my condo building during the day, and made off with a few feet of copper pipe from the freshwater supply. Naturally, the thief didn't shut off the water before ripping out the pipes, resulting in a small flood of the commercial corridor, which leaked through cracks in the concrete into the residential storage room in the parkade...
