The crisis has created problems for Vancouver 2010 too. The city has had to step in with a $100 million loan and $350 m in loan guarantees to the developers of the athlete's village. Not chump change for a city of less than 2 million souls, and little industry other than support for real estate speculation (now going the way the US did), tourism (Americans staying home, now) and construction (mostly olympic and RE boom related -- and now at risk).
