Oil and gold contest update #5

Friday, June 19, 2009

This is update #5 for the "Guess the Mid-Year Price of Oil and Gold" contest which is set to conclude in about ten days. Little has changed since last week aside from a little jostling around in the top ten based on some small moves down in the prices for both oil and gold.
IMAGE With oil ending the week 3.5 percent lower at $69.55 a barrel and gold down 0.5 percent to $934 an ounce, the top four contestants remain the same, but the order has changed.

As shown below, ycching has vaulted into first place changing places with jlowey who last week occupied spot #3 and, oddly, positions #2 and #4 have also been swapped, Bruno T sending the Inscrutible Chicken clucking two positions lower than last week.
IMAGE MW, BB, and SLK were all summarily booted from the top ten, with IP, JM, and KC joining returning top ten contestants Atox, fatbear, and Gene P., all of whom moved up.

That's a lot of movement in the top ten for such a small move in oil and gold.

Remember that the winner will receive a free one-year subscription to the companion investment website Iacono Research, valued at $159, where the model portfolio tumbled with nearly everything else this week, down 4.0 percent, but still sports a gain of 15.0 percent for the year.

There will be one more update a week from today and the winner will be announced sometime late in the day on Tuesday, June 30th.

I think it's more like a fish hook.
