I've pulled this chart out from the previous post for the benefit of those who didn't make it all the way down to the bottom of what was a lengthy discourse on housing market bottoms.
IMAGE Clearly, the experience of the Case Shiller data for the Los Angeles area in the 1990s is replete with many false starts, the ultimate bottom coming almost two years after the first positive month-to-month reading in the index with another bottom coming a full year later.

I'd love to see what home sales look like against those home prices. My guess is they bottomed in 1995.
